About these terms

These terms apply when you visit or use Signal Automotive, including its account, garage, motor-trade, valuation, diagnostic, vehicle-record, community and funding-interest features. By creating an account or using a feature, you agree to these terms and acknowledge the Privacy and Cookie notices.

Signal’s features, data coverage and availability may change. Material changes to these terms will be dated and highlighted where practical.

Who may use Signal

• Public information may be viewed by anyone, but accounts, uploads, community participation, trade tools and funding enquiries are intended for people aged 18 or over.
• A person using a business workspace must have authority to act for that business and to handle the vehicles, documents and customer information entered there.
• Information you provide must be accurate to the best of your knowledge. Do not impersonate another person or misrepresent professional or trade status.

What Signal provides

Signal Automotive is a vehicle-information and decision-support service. It can organise vehicle records, surface vehicle and MOT facts, compare written symptoms and diagnostic clues with possible fault patterns, record market evidence, and help a trader structure an appraisal and buying plan.

Unless a result expressly identifies a connected licensed provider and its source, it is not live market data. A price estimate is not a binding offer, guaranteed sale price, insurance valuation, finance valuation, tax opinion or substitute for a physical appraisal.

Vehicle safety and diagnosis

• An AI result, evidence grade, possible match, forum answer or OBD explanation is not a confirmed diagnosis, MOT inspection or statement that a vehicle is safe to drive.
• Diagnosis is processed online through Signal and OpenAI for signed-out and signed-in users, subject to service availability and capacity. If the online service cannot complete the review, try again later or ask a qualified technician; Signal does not supply an automatic on-device diagnosis instead.
• Stop in a safe place and obtain professional help for a red warning light, braking or steering problem, smoke, fire, overheating, fuel smell, severe vibration, sudden power loss or any condition that feels unsafe.
• Follow the vehicle handbook and instructions from the manufacturer, emergency services and qualified technicians. Do not film, type or operate Signal while driving.
• Never carry out a dangerous test or dismantle a vehicle solely because Signal or a community user suggests a possible cause.

Vehicle data and valuations

Registration, MOT, tax, derivative and specification data can be incomplete, delayed or wrong. Check the identity and current official record before using it. Signal does not replace the official GOV.UK vehicle, tax or MOT services.

A mileage estimate is calculated from usable dated MOT odometer readings after mile and kilometre units are normalised. A clear sequence does not warrant the mileage, and an alert does not prove fraud or odometer interference. Traders must inspect the dashboard and supporting service, invoice and replacement records before describing mileage as verified.

Valuations depend on the supplied mileage, condition, provenance, service history, specification, vehicle class, location, market evidence and costs. Advertised prices are not confirmed sale prices. Market conditions and a physical inspection can materially change a vehicle’s value.

Trade buying plans and margin calculations are internal decision aids. They do not guarantee preparation cost, gross margin, VAT treatment, consumer-law compliance or resale. Obtain appropriate professional advice for tax, finance, legal and safety decisions.

Optional vehicle reminders

Personal-garage MOT, tax and service reminder emails need a separate, explicit opt-in using the reminder control. Creating an account, accepting these terms, saving your profile or having an older reminder preference does not subscribe you. Reminders are not a trade-stock, fleet-customer or marketing-message service.

Reminders use the dates, vehicle status and mileage saved in your garage. They do not obtain a fresh official record or measure current mileage when an email is prepared. Check the latest official MOT and tax records and the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule, and update your saved records after a renewal, service, mileage change or sale. Signal reminders are not official DVLA or DVSA notices and do not confirm legal compliance or roadworthiness.

The service aims to send at most one summary per account per Europe/London calendar day, at selected upcoming, due and overdue checkpoints. It does not send every possible alert or repeat every overdue item daily. Sender setup, scheduling, delivery faults, service capacity and provider limits can delay or prevent a message. Provider acceptance is not proof of inbox delivery. Keep your own deadline records and do not rely on an email, or its absence, as evidence that no action is needed.

You can turn reminders off in your garage or confirm the stop-reminders link in an email. A supported email-client unsubscribe action also stops them. This does not close your account, remove saved vehicles or stop sign-in emails. A message already handed to the email service may still arrive. Changing your account email requires a fresh reminder opt-in for the new address.

The privacy notice explains the information sent through Resend, consent records and delivery-record retention. Reminder messages contain no marketing, and agreeing to these terms does not authorise marketing or optional tracking.

Optional marketing emails

Signal Automotive blog posts, development updates, new features and offers are optional marketing. You are not enrolled simply by creating an account or accepting these terms. Marketing requires the separate affirmative checkbox or subscription control.

You can withdraw through News and email updates in driver or trade settings, or by using the unsubscribe option in a marketing message, without losing account access or changing login codes and vehicle reminder preferences. Delivery is not guaranteed, and a message already handed to the provider may still arrive after withdrawal.

Accounts and access

• Keep your email account and Google account secure and use only your own sign-in link or code.
• Tell Signal promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. We may temporarily restrict access to protect an account or the service.
• Do not test security, scrape restricted data, bypass access controls, overload the service or use another person’s account without permission.
• Signal may suspend or close access where reasonably necessary to investigate misuse, protect users, comply with law or enforce these terms.

Network security and reviewing a restriction

To protect people and the service from spam, harassment, fraud, contact harvesting, attempts to bypass access controls and disruptive automated use, Signal records recent trustworthy network IP observations, including signed-out use. A verified signed-in account can be associated with its latest observed IP. These are limited security records, not a licence to track your browsing or a guarantee of a person’s identity.

An authorised administrator may restrict a specific account, email address or network IP where reasonably necessary to protect the service, investigate misuse or enforce these terms. The administrator records a reason and chooses a duration; temporary restrictions expire and restrictions can be removed after review. An active IP restriction is applied to requests from that address, including signed-out requests.

Network addresses may be shared or change over time. An IP match alone does not prove that you caused misuse. If a restriction affects you in error, contact info@signalautomotive.uk to request human review. Contact, privacy, cookie, terms and account-recovery routes remain available. Restricting access does not automatically delete your records or remove your statutory rights.

The privacy notice explains what is collected, the security purpose and legitimate-interests basis, retention and your rights. The cookie policy distinguishes server security records from browser storage. Using Signal does not amount to consent to optional advertising, analytics or unrestricted collection of information.

Uploads and records

You keep ownership of material you upload. You give Signal a limited permission to host, copy, process and display it only as needed to provide the feature you selected, maintain security and comply with law. This permission ends when the material is deleted, except for short-lived backups, public material already lawfully shared by others, and records we must retain.

When you submit a diagnosis, Signal sends relevant vehicle facts, written clues, codes and warnings, plus prepared sound and selected still images if you supplied media, to OpenAI for online analysis. The diagnosis request does not send the original full recording. Saving a private case or publishing community media is a separate upload choice. Do not include another person’s private information unnecessarily. The privacy notice explains this processing in more detail.

• Upload only material you created or are authorised to use.
• Do not upload faces, addresses, identity papers, finance records, access codes or another person’s information unless it is necessary, lawful and you have authority.
• Do not treat Signal as the sole copy of a document, appraisal or vehicle record. Keep your own business and maintenance records where they are important.
• Files may be rejected or removed if they are unsafe, unlawful, malicious, excessive, unsupported or breach these terms.

Community rules

A published contribution is public. By choosing to publish, you permit Signal to host, reproduce and display it for the community feature. Permission to use a resolved case as labelled supporting evidence is a separate, optional choice and does not automatically grant model-training rights.

• Do not post harassment, unlawful material, dangerous repair instructions, undisclosed advertising, spam or deliberately misleading outcomes.
• Do not claim a professional inspection, repair or verified result that did not happen.
• Community content may be wrong or written by someone without professional qualifications. Check it independently.
• Signal may hold, label, restrict or remove a contribution and act on reports where reasonably necessary.

Vehicle adverts and sales

Signal provides free vehicle classified adverts. Buyers contact sellers directly; Signal does not sell the vehicle, take deposits, hold funds, provide escrow or arrange finance through this feature. The seller sets the asking price. An advert is not a Signal valuation or vehicle guarantee.

Only advertise a vehicle you own or are authorised to sell. Use photos you have the right to publish, describe the vehicle accurately and disclose known material faults, modifications, relevant former use and finance or insurance-category information. Select dealer or trader if you sell as a business; do not present a business sale as a private sale.

Drafts are private. Publishing makes the selected advert details, photos, seller name and town public for 30 days unless paused or marked sold sooner. Chosen contact details are shared only when a verified signed-in buyer requests them, subject to access limits. Do not harvest contact details, automate their collection, bypass these limits or use them for unsolicited marketing. Keep phone numbers and emails out of public text and photos. Renewing is free. Saving a vehicle in a garage or Trade workspace does not publish an advert.

When marking an advert sold, you may optionally report the agreed price and separately agree to its use with non-contact vehicle details for valuation research. This seller report is not independently verified, does not prove payment or a completed wholesale transaction, and is not automatically used as a confirmed market sale. You can mark an advert sold without reporting a price.

Inspect the vehicle, identity and documents before agreeing payment. Dealer and private sales have different responsibilities; nothing on Signal removes applicable consumer rights. Report a suspicious or misleading advert to info@signalautomotive.uk with its advert link. Signal may restrict or remove adverts that breach these terms.

Advertising and commercial content

Free seller-created vehicle adverts are separate from paid placements. Signal carries no live paid advertising placements. Any paid placement must be clearly identifiable and comply with the Advertising Standards page. Paid placement will not determine a diagnostic ranking, safety warning or valuation result.

Advertisers and contributors must not submit misleading claims, unsafe vehicle advice, unlawful products or material that disguises its commercial purpose. Signal can reject or remove a campaign even after approval if new risk or misleading content becomes apparent.

Funding interest

The funding page records non-binding interest only. It does not take payment, offer shares, publish an investment valuation, guarantee a reward or promise a return. Any crowdfunding campaign or investment opportunity will have separate platform terms, risk information, eligibility rules and formal documents.

Availability and third parties

We aim to keep Signal available and accurate, but vehicle-data providers, authentication, storage, AI services and external links can fail or change. Signal may pause a feature for maintenance, security, legal or provider reasons.

A third-party service has its own terms and privacy practices. A link or integration does not mean Signal guarantees or endorses every statement, product or service offered there.

Responsibility and liability

Use reasonable judgement and verify material decisions. To the extent the law permits, Signal is not responsible for a loss caused by treating an estimate, automated result or community contribution as a guaranteed diagnosis, roadworthiness decision, purchase price or sale outcome.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your mandatory consumer rights. If you use Signal as a consumer, these terms do not remove rights given to you by applicable consumer law.

Ending use and contact

You may stop using Signal at any time. Use the Delete my account page to confirm account erasure, or email info@signalautomotive.uk for assistance or individual content removal. Confirmation closes normal access and starts removal of associated records, uploaded files and the login account. Failed steps remain queued for retry. Limited active restriction matches may remain for the periods explained in the privacy notice. Applicable privacy rights continue after account closure; third-party copies and provider retention may require separate handling.

Signal may restrict an account, an exact email address or a network IP to protect the service and respond to misuse. Restrictions may be temporary or remain until reviewed. Network restrictions can affect people sharing an address; contact Signal if you believe access has been restricted in error. A restriction does not automatically delete your records or cancel applicable privacy rights.
