Signal Trade · Free car dealer software

From quick quote to sold. One dealer workspace.

Appraise the car. Follow up with the customer. Manage the stock. Signal brings the next decision into view, with the vehicle record at the centre.

Core workspace free to use, with no Signal subscription fee. For independent dealers and motor traders; trade-account approval is required. External provider services are separate.

A practical trading day

One car. Four connected stages.

Keep the buying decision, the work still to do and the sale connected.

  1. 01 / Quote

    Start the conversation

Create a quick quote, then carry the vehicle and saved quote into a fuller buying appraisal.

  2. 02 / Appraise

    Make the buying decision

Record condition, history, checks and preparation plans. Attach private service records, invoices, MOT or inspection documents to the appraisal. Compare buying figures with their costs and valuation sources visible.

  3. 03 / Stock

    Keep the car moving

Bring a completed purchase into your stock library. Keep photos, preparation jobs, recorded costs and status against the vehicle.

  4. 04 / Sell

    Prepare the next handover

Work with customer records, opportunities and tasks. Prepare an advert from stock, review it and record the sale outcome.

What is in the workspace

The tools a small dealership reaches for every day.

Vehicle appraisal software

Switch between Quick Quote and buying a vehicle without starting the vehicle record again. Keep the original quote alongside the later appraisal.

Used car stock management

See the vehicles you own, what stage each has reached and the preparation costs you have recorded. Follow the same car through to sale.

Car dealer CRM and tasks

Keep customer details, buying or selling opportunities and follow-up tasks in the trade workspace. Link the work to the relevant vehicle.

Preparation that fits your stock

Use a preparation approach that suits the vehicle and your selling plan. Record the work you intend to do and distinguish cosmetic wear from defects requiring attention.

Vehicle pricing with context

See source-labelled historical price benchmarks and your own costs and margin assumptions. Review current comparables before committing to a purchase.

An easier start to your advert

Use stock details and selected photos to prepare a Signal listing draft. Check the description and asking price before publishing.

A free dealer workspace

Use Signal Trade’s core appraisal, customer, stock, preparation, fleet and reporting tools without a Signal subscription fee.

A free Trade API

Calculate Signal historical and dealership-evidence buying plans, and connect your own appraisal, stock, preparation and CRM records through separately scoped, revocable keys. Customer data and purchase or sale figures require their own scopes.

A shared dealership workspace

The principal controls team access and API keys. Managers maintain branch locations; sales and buyer staff handle appraisals, evidence and stock in the same business workspace.

Bring your stock with you

Start with a reviewed CSV import. Vehicle columns are recognised in your browser; customer details and other unrecognised columns are not sent to Signal.

Buying with context

The number matters. So does what sits behind it.

Preparation, fees, risk and your intended margin all affect a buying decision. Signal keeps those assumptions visible so you can assess the deal for the way you trade.

Know what you are looking at

  • Historical benchmarks carry their source and coverage limits.
  • Recorded check results remain distinct from checks supplied by a provider.
  • Recorded costs and sale outcomes help you review your own decisions.

Questions from the motor trade.

Who is Signal Trade for?

Independent used car dealers, smaller forecourts and motor traders who want appraisal, customer follow-up, stock and preparation in one vehicle-led workflow. Trade access is reviewed before the private workspace opens.

What does free to use mean?

There is no Signal subscription fee for the core Trade workspace. Business details are reviewed before private trade access is approved. External vehicle checks, licensed valuation feeds, auction services and advertising on other platforms are separate services and are not included.

How does dealership team access work?

The approved dealership principal owns the workspace and manages its team and API keys. Managers can maintain branch locations. Sales and buyer staff can work with appraisals, evidence and stock. Staff use their own verified free Signal account; they do not share the principal’s sign-in.

What can the free Trade API connect?

An appraisal key can request Signal trade estimates and buying plans using historical evidence and your dealership’s own recorded outcomes, and sync saved appraisals. Other keys read or manage your business’s own stock, preparation and CRM records. Stock management includes paginated sync, stock creation, operational updates and recorded sale outcomes; customer information and purchase or sale figures use separate permissions. The API does not provide licensed Auto Trader Connect data, BCA auction access, advertising distribution to other platforms or third-party vehicle-check results. Those services need their own agreements.

Can I start with a quick quote and buy the vehicle later?

Yes. Quick Quote and the full buying appraisal are two stages of the same workflow. You can preserve the quote and carry the vehicle details into the buying process.

Are the valuations live CAP or HPI values?

No. Signal’s default price benchmark uses historical advertised-price evidence with published adjustments and coverage limits. It is not a licensed CAP/HPI valuation or an achieved selling price. Check the valuation methodology and current market evidence when making a buying decision.

Does preparing an advert publish it automatically?

No. The stock-to-advert flow prepares a draft for you to review. Publishing on Signal is a separate action; automatic distribution to other advertising platforms is not included.

Are customer details and appraisal notes public?

Customer records, appraisals and stock working notes sit inside the private trade workspace. Publishing an advert is a separate step with its own public vehicle information.

How pricing information helps Signal

Signal Automotive is an independent start-up building its own vehicle pricing system. Vehicle details and prices you choose to provide for valuation or optional pricing research help us develop and improve Signal’s estimates.

Asking prices and seller-reported outcomes remain labelled by their source; they are not treated as verified sales unless supported by suitable evidence. Optional research choices remain separate, and this acknowledgement does not sign you up to marketing.

Read the privacy notice for details about the information Signal uses and your choices.
