What we collect

We collect the information needed to provide the features you choose to use. This can include your email address, Google account profile details, saved vehicle details, mileage and maintenance dates.

• Symptoms, OBD fault codes and dashboard warning lights you enter.
• Vehicle photos, audio and video you choose to upload.
• Diagnostic results, follow-up answers and any repair outcome you record.
• Forum posts, comments, reports and contribution preferences.
• Your name, email, organisation, message and selected support type if you submit a funding-interest form.
• Basic security and service logs used to prevent abuse and investigate faults.

Funding and pilot interest

The funding page does not take payments or collect card or bank details. If you register interest, we use the details you provide only to respond about crowdfunding, a garage pilot, sponsorship or a future properly structured funding conversation.

Selecting investment interest is non-binding and does not create an investor relationship, application or commitment. Funding-interest records are kept only as long as reasonably needed to manage the relevant conversation or until you ask for deletion, subject to any legal record-keeping requirement.

How we use it

We use this information to operate your account, identify your vehicle, produce an evidence review with possible patterns to inspect, keep your garage records, run the community area and improve service reliability.

In the current free diagnosis flow, the original video remains on your device. Signal samples frames, measures the audio and can run a general-purpose sound model in your browser; the model files are downloaded from its public model host and cached by the browser. Sampled frames are not visually interpreted in this version.

Media leaves your device only when you deliberately use a separate upload feature, such as saving a private case or publishing a community contribution. If a future cloud-analysis option is added, it will be described separately before use. A pattern match is not a confirmed mechanical diagnosis.

Community contributions and AI supporting evidence

Publishing a forum post and allowing a resolved contribution to be considered as supporting evidence during a future Signal review are separate choices. Public sharing does not automatically grant permission for this use or for model training.

The current opt-in allows a limited, resolved case summary to be supplied as clearly labelled historical context when a future user submits the same stated make and model. It does not retrain the underlying AI model. You can decline and still use the ordinary account, diagnosis and community features. We record the consent wording and date so the choice can be audited.

Who processes information

We use contracted infrastructure, authentication, storage, vehicle-data and model-hosting providers to run Signal Automotive. They process information under their own security controls and our service configuration. Google receives information when you choose Google sign-in.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information where the law requires it, to protect users, or to investigate misuse of the service.

Retention and control

We keep account information while your account is active and retain operational records only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above. Legal, fraud-prevention or security requirements may require some records to be kept for longer.

You can ask for access, correction or deletion of your personal information. Use the current contact details published by Braid Valley Motors and state that your request concerns Signal Automotive. Identity verification may be required before a request is completed.

Protecting your privacy

• Avoid filming faces, home addresses, registration documents or other people’s personal information.
• Hide registration plates before making a video public unless they are automatically obscured by the service.
• Do not include keys, access codes, financial information or precise location details in a forum post.
• Private garage records are not made public merely because you save them to your account.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice as Signal Automotive changes. The date at the top of this page will show when the current wording took effect. Material changes will be highlighted in the service where practical.
