Help with Signal

A clear answer. A useful next step.

Help with your account, vehicle adverts, evidence reviews and privacy choices.

Accounts and access

Where do I sign in?

Choose Sign in from the site menu. You can use Google or ask for an email code. A new email address creates an account after verification. On a phone, open the menu to reach your garage, Trade, guides and the other sections.

What if my sign-in code has not arrived?

Check the address and your spam or junk folder. Allow any displayed resend countdown to finish before requesting another code, then use the newest message. Google sign-in is another option. If email still fails, contact Signal support with the time and error message, but never send a sign-in code or password.

Which features are free?

Vehicle classified adverts, the online diagnostic review and the motor-trade tools are free to use, subject to service availability and capacity. External paid services have separate access requirements; do not assume a service is included just because another feature is free. Signal does not take deposits or payment for vehicles advertised here.

How do I get access to Signal Trade?

Sign in and submit a trade application with relevant evidence of motor-trade activity. Documents are private to you and the authorised administrator. You can check the decision in your account. Approval of a business account does not verify every vehicle or repair outcome.

Symptoms, sound and video

Can I save a result and add the confirmed diagnosis later?

Yes. Choose Save diagnostic result below a real result, then open the case from your garage, trade workspace or linked vehicle. The original suggestions stay unchanged. Add the actual fault, how it was confirmed, work carried out and whether the symptom was fixed, improved or returned. You can separately opt in to contribute a de-identified summary for review. Only eligible, reviewed contributions support later online comparisons; this does not automatically retrain the AI.

Can Signal confirm which part has failed?

No. Signal compares the available clues and suggests possible explanations and inspection questions. Similar sounds can have different causes. A result is not a confirmed diagnosis, a roadworthiness decision or permission to keep driving. Follow the vehicle handbook and seek qualified help for safety concerns.

Do I have to upload a video?

No. You can describe the symptom and add any known codes or warning lights without a recording. A clear recording can provide more evidence, but poor or incomplete evidence may still be inconclusive. Never record while driving or reach near moving or hot components to capture a sound.

What leaves my device during a diagnosis?

Every submitted diagnosis runs online through Signal and its AI diagnosis provider, whether you are signed in or not. Your symptom description, vehicle facts, observations, codes and warnings are sent for review. If you add a recording, your browser sends prepared sound and/or selected still images; speech in the sound may be transcribed. The original full recording is not sent by the diagnosis request. Saving a private case or publishing community media is a separate upload. Remove unnecessary personal information and read the privacy notice before submitting.

What should I include in a useful symptom description?

Describe the sound in your own words, when it happens, whether the engine is cold or warm, and whether the vehicle is starting, idling or moving. Give the exact vehicle and engine where known. Keep where the microphone was held separate from where you think the noise originates. Include genuine codes and warning messages; do not guess missing facts.

Vehicles, adverts and valuations

How do I create and manage an advert?

Open Sell for free, choose your vehicle, add actual photographs, set the price and complete the seller details. Review before publishing. Published adverts run for 30 days and can be renewed free. Pause a live advert before editing it, and mark it sold when it is no longer available.

Are my email and phone number public?

Dedicated contact details are excluded from public advert page data. A buyer must sign in with a verified email and choose Contact seller, subject to request limits. This reduces bulk collection but cannot stop an authorised viewer copying details. Either email or phone is enough; you do not need to provide both. Never put contact details in public descriptions, photos or watermarks.

Is a valuation a guaranteed selling price?

No. A modelled estimate or advertised-price reference is not a binding offer or a confirmed sale. Check the source, age, coverage and uncertainty of the evidence, then account for actual condition and costs. Signal does not invent a live valuation when a source is unavailable. The valuation methodology explains the boundaries.

Do I need a postcode, and are miles and kilometres checked?

The historical valuation estimate uses UK-wide evidence and does not require a postcode or apply a postcode price adjustment. For mileage checks, usable MOT kilometre readings are converted to miles before comparison. An estimate is not an odometer reading, and a discrepancy alert is not proof of fraud. Check the dashboard, original units and supporting records before confirming mileage.

Privacy and support

Does saving a vehicle make it public?

No. A private garage or Trade record does not become an advert or community post just because you save it. You publish those separately. A published advert uses the linked vehicle’s specification and mileage, so later changes to those details can update the advert. Private buying prices, documents and notes are not public advert fields.

How do I remove my information?

Open Delete my account or My garage → Settings. Sign in recently, confirm your email and type DELETE. Signal queues removal of your account, saved records and associated uploaded files, retrying failed steps. A limited active ban match may remain as explained in the privacy notice. For individual content removal, historical files, provider copies or help, email info@signalautomotive.uk.

Can I withdraw research permission or change cookies?

Use Withdraw contribution permission on a private diagnostic case to stop its summary supporting future reviews. Editing its outcome also removes any approved summary until it is reviewed again. You can switch off research-support permission on your own published community case without removing the post. Cookie settings are available from the footer: Google Analytics is optional and starts only after you accept; you can switch it off there. Advertising cookies remain off. Clearing browser data does not erase saved account records. See the cookie policy for browser drafts and cookie choices.

How do I report a problem or suspicious advert?

Use the report link on the advert or email Signal support with its link and a concise explanation. For a site problem, include the page, device and error message, but remove private information from screenshots. Do not send passwords, sign-in codes, payment details or identity documents.

How pricing information helps Signal

Signal Automotive is an independent start-up building its own vehicle pricing system. Vehicle details and prices you choose to provide for valuation or optional pricing research help us develop and improve Signal’s estimates.

Asking prices and seller-reported outcomes remain labelled by their source; they are not treated as verified sales unless supported by suitable evidence. Optional research choices remain separate, and this acknowledgement does not sign you up to marketing.

Read the privacy notice for details about the information Signal uses and your choices.
